Beneath
the earth
Our cellar is part of the family home, in a space carved into clay. This is where we look after our wine as it ages.
We handle every stage ourselves, from tending the vines to working in the cellar.

CURINO · ALTO PIEMONTE
In Curino, in Alto Piemonte, we chose to bring these vines back to life. This is where our winemaking story begins.
Our family has been rooted in Curino for generations, in the hamlet now known as Cascina. Its historic name is Cassina, which we chose to preserve in the wine we make here. Our first trials began in 2021; in 2024 we founded Azienda Agricola Luca Ponzio.
We are planting new vines alongside our old vines. As we expand the vineyard, we remain personally involved at every stage, from vine to bottle.
Our first winemaking trials began in 2021. Three years later, we founded the winery.
Our current annual production: a small number of bottles that allows us to oversee every stage ourselves.
We tend the vines, protect individual bunches and harvest the grapes by hand: work that takes time and close attention.

Our vineyard in Curino
Our cellar is part of the family home, in a space carved into clay. This is where we look after our wine as it ages.
We handle every stage ourselves, from tending the vines to working in the cellar.

On land once cultivated by the canons, we have restored a century-old vineyard previously used only to make wine for private consumption. Alongside the old vines, we are adding new vines.
We place each bunch in a protective bag to keep insects away. We let the grapes ripen on the vine before harvesting them by hand.
Between the rows, we allow grass to grow: ground cover helps protect the soil from erosion and provides shelter and food for beneficial insects. A practical way to support biodiversity in the vineyard.

RED WINE · CURINO
2024 vintage · Still ageing
Our first vintage is taking its time.
Vigne Cassina is our first red wine, made from Nebbiolo, Uva Rara and Croatina. Its name is inspired by the historic name of the hamlet in Curino where the project began.
2024 marks our first commercial vintage. It is still ageing in the cellar and will be released when ready. Work is also under way on the 2025 and 2026 vintages.
The wine is aged first in stainless steel, then in French oak barriques, followed by a final period in bottle. Each bottle will be individually numbered, as part of our limited production.
Please get in touch to learn more about the wine and its first release.
Email usCurino lies in Alto Piemonte, 10 km from Gattinara. Among these hills, woodlands and small vineyards, vine growing has long been part of local life.
In our vineyard, the roots grow in sandy loam soil, with silt, clay and a slightly acidic pH. This soil is the starting point for our work.
